So, you have survived the first big blitz of the year that occurred May 17 – 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This was a 72-hour inspection that targeted commercial motor vehicles. On average 15 trucks or buses were inspected every minute in North America. But just because this inspection blitz is over – does not mean that is the end. There is more to come.
Important Truck Driver Inspection Dates
There are two more important dates that truck drivers must be prepared for – Operation Safe Driver Week and Brake Safety Week.
Operation Safe Driver Week will take place first on July 10 – 16, 2022. During this time, law enforcement officers in the United States will be watching for both commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers that are participating in unsafe driving behaviors. Also, law enforcement officers will be watching for speeding violations during this time. This inspection is centered around safe driving.
Brake Safety Week will take place August 21 – 27, 2022. During this time, inspectors will perform brake system inspections on large trucks and buses in the United States. This is done to find brake system violations and remove these trucks from the highways to help create a safer driving environment for all of those on the road. It is important that not just during this week that your brakes are working properly, but each time you get behind the wheel.
We will continue to keep you posted on these two inspections and what to expect over the next few weeks.
